What is Menopause?

When menstruation ceases. 6 to 12 months without a period is a tell-tale sign you have reached menopause. Other symptoms include hot flashes, vaginal dryness, or bladder infections. Most women reach menopause in their 50s.

Is menopause a disease?

No; it is a natural phenomenon.

How can we manage menopause well?

Lifestyle

  • Exercise daily
  • Avoid smoking
  • Use alternative ways to control symptoms before opting for hormone replacement therapy.
  • Manage stress through yoga, deep breathing, and meditation.
  • Wear clothes made from natural fibres, such as cotton, to prevent vaginal infections
  • Avoid antihistamines, alcohol, caffeine, and diuretics, which can aggravate vaginal dryness

Diet

  • Consume more plant-based foods, especially fennel, parsley, soy, whole grains, alfalfa, and apples, as they contain phytoestrogens, which can help during menopause.
  • Reduce saturated fats intake
  • Reduce meat consumption and increase the intake of fruits and vegetables for their antioxidants.
  • Incorporate more nuts, seeds, and flax seed oil in your diet.

An incredible volume of knowledge packed into a manageable size book. Read it through and also use it as a handbook or guide. The material is heavily based on science, but presented in such a way as to function as a checklist. This book is downright fascinating, too. If you desire a longer, healthier life, this book would be a good starting point
